Motorcycle Insurance Buyer’s Guide
There are 2 main types of motorbike insurance:
- Specified rider policy = insurance policy which only covers the rider not the bike, the policy will also dictate which size of motorcycle you are covered for.
- Motorbike cover = insurance policy which covers the machine, not the rider.
Motorcycle insurance tips:
Did you know over 10,000 motorbike riders each year; decide on cancelling their bike policy each winter, because they know they will not be using their bike in the winter months. There are 2 good reasons why this is a bad idea: firstly bike thieves know that bikes are locked away in lock-ups, garages etc during the winter months, with approximately 600 bikes stolen per month, secondly to earn your no claims bonuses your policy needs to run for a whole calendar year.
Women bike riders - did you know you can qualify for approximately 15% discount on your bike policy? Due to women riders being a lower risk than male riders, due to riding at lower speeds than their male counterparts.
Moped and Scooter Insurance
Make sure you clarify with insurance companies that you wish to be quoted for scooter or moped insurance, as some companies will offer different quotes, policies and deals for these separately from motorbike insurance.
